Theme a day – Chairs & sofas!

Art through all of history is stuffed full of pictures of people sitting on chairs, maybe it’s time you had a go.

Try sitting on the floor to draw your chair or sofa. Remember what you know about perspective. (I’m sure you practiced – if not check out my post on 2 point perspective first)

The trick is look at the angle of the lines – you may think the line you need to draw is horizontal but in real life it actually looks like it going diagonal – look carefully. This is what perspective is all about.

Again try different types of chairs and sofas – whatever is around you, and as always, if you have access to other art materials you can take your drawing further.
